How it all started
A Ugandan veterinarian Dr. Alex Babitunga introduced crocodile farming in Uganda in the early 1990s having worked on a farm rearing Nile crocodiles in Zimbabwe. Realizing the potential of crocodile farming in Uganda he established the first farm under Uganda Crocs Ltd. A business that has run for over 30 years.
The owner of Equator Crocs having worked for Uganda Crocs Ltd for over 10 years and very passionate about the crocodile business, saw this as a unique and viable business venture. Equator Crocs Uganda Ltd remains the only registered facility to breed, raise, and export Nile crocodiles skins in Uganda.
Mission
To ethically farm the Nile crocodile to create high quality and value products and to support scientific study and research while conserving and protecting the Nile crocodile for future generations.
